Known for her beautiful skin and clean makeup techniques Renee Garnes has
taken the beauty world by storm. Her work has graced the covers of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Marie Clair and Glamour Magazine just to name a few. Sought after by leading photographers all over the globe her amazing flare has been seen on some of the world’s most famous faces such as Sharon Stone, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzogova, Audrey Tautou and Michelle Yeoh. As internally beautiful as the faces she paints Renee exudes a sweet charm which is very rare to find with one who has achieved so much within the industry.
Due to all her success this American girl has had the opportunity to travel the world and now calls Paris home. Yet she adamantly remains true to her New York roots. We had the great opportunity to sit down and talk to Renee about beauty trends, tips and must- haves for the season.
What is your number one beauty tip for staying sexy this spring/ summer?
“I always go for lush lashes and a nice strong red mouth. I think it is just so sexy. If you do not want your lips to be so strong you can go for a red gloss instead. This look just gives you that all the way sex appeal. It just eludes sizzle while giving you a Marilyn Monroe effect”.
What are the beauty trends this season that you are most excited about?
“I think it is going to be all about color. It’s going to be like the 80s meet the year 2012 this spring/summer season. Eighties with a modern twist to be exact. You don’t have to do the really strong makeup but you can do a strong mouth and tone down the eyes. Or if you’re bold you can do a strong mouth and strong eyes. Essentially with the right technique anything
runs the gamut this coming season.”
How can we easily recreate the retro trend without appearing too made up?
“I would suggest trying a colored liner and then doing a nice bold mouth or gloss to start with. This look is really cool but easy to achieve for the average woman.”
Which designers should we look to for spring/ summer beauty inspiration?
“I think Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton are definite go tos for springtime beauty inspiration.”
What is in your beauty bag?
“Girl, I have tons of stuff.” ( Renee showed me her makeup bag exploding at the seams. It is a beauty-a- holic’s dream)
Is there any beauty brands that you really love?
“There are so many great brands out there but I love Christian Dior makeup.”
What are your top five beauty products right now?
“Definitely my Bobbi Brown cream foundations, I have to have my Mac Mineral Powders, Dior DiorShow Extase Mascara, Nars Lip Gloss and Mac Lip Gloss.”
